- EVE Market Master

What is it?

The Eve Market master tool was developed during Revelations, and has been used by many players to sharpen their marketeering process. The Market Master is used to immediately locate all of your orders in a given region that have been outbid or undercut, both buying and selling, and notify you of them.

Who is it for? It's not for everyone! It was developed to assist me in the rapid buying and selling of a few key products region-wide or in a single station. I recommend this tool for anyone who is trading minerals, salvage parts, and other items that are under fierce competition day and night. For example, if you have buy and sell orders for tritanium, pyerite, malfunctioned shield emitters, and a couple key module types that you've been manufacturing in a few key places throughout a region, and this is something you do often, this is the tool for you. It is ESPECIALLY useful for people with good marketing skills trained, who often try to regionally dominate a given market. This tool is very, very helpful in "market PVP"

What does it do?EVE Market Master looks over your exported orders, and cross-compares them to your exported market details for whichever items you've exported. It immediately and automatically tells you which of your orders need attention. Simply put, you don't "mess" with the program. You just export from eve's market screens, and then run the software. If things appear in the list, those things need attention. EVE market master lists each of your buy and sell orders that have been outbid or undercut by someone else in the same station!

How do I use it?

Assuming you have some buy and sell orders:

  1. Click on the market tab in EVE. Go to "My Orders" and click export.
  2. "View Market details" for any items you are buying and selling (either click to them in the "browse" tab, right click on one in your hangar/cargo and click "View Market Details", use the "search", or click on them in your "quickbar".
  3. Click export for each product you want market master to analyze.
  4. Run Market Master.
  5. Read the output, and adjust your prices in your "My Orders" tab. The Market master suggests a price .01 ISK above competing buy orders, and .01 ISK below competing sell orders.

Is it legal?

Yes! This software does not violate the EVE EULA in any way. It just parses your market logs and finds problems!!!

Is it safe?

Yes, many people have bought and used EVE Market Master with solid results.

Does it really work?

Yes! I have used this thing for over a year now. I can't stand marketting without it now! I earned my first 300 million ISK in Sinq Laison trading tritanium (buy low, sell high) without market master. Then I made it. I used it to skyrocket my earnings to over a BILLION ISK in about a month's time, trading in Auvergne, Aunia, Dodixie, etc. Because Market Master made me faster, I could spend the same amount of time as I was spending buying and selling Tritanium and expand into Pyerite and salvage components. I generated that first 700 million ISK profit only playing for about 15 minutes a day.

And now, it's free, because I don't play EVE anymore Smile.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Sometimes, programs crash, and, updates to the game can and will probably kill EVE Market Master.  Read the following, and if it doesn't help you, e-mail me at jkjudgex@gmail.com and I'll see if I can help you.  If you're handy with a compiler, I can send you the source.... but it's a bit messy as it was a pet project and not professional coding.

Problems:
1) Sometimes EVE Patches make small changes to the market log format, folder layouts, folder locations, etc.  When these things happen, EVE Market Master must be patched or upgraded to keep up with the changes.  I can generally do this within a couple days of the offending patch, but, it may help to e-mail me at jkjudgex@gmail.com if I seem slow.

2) 90% of problems that have been experienced stem from the usage of the "," decimal seperator (euro/eurasian standard) as opposed to the "." decimal seperator (American Standard).  The Market Master is coded for American computers with the American standard.  In Windows XP, you can change these settings yourself, and I believe you can edit the EVE ini file to make it use the american seperator.
    a) Can't you make it do both?
I can, but I don't really have time to maintain both codepaths for US and Euro versions.  You can change your settings much more easily than I can maintain two code-paths that interchange ","s and "."s willie-nillie.  If anyone wants to pay me a gigantic sum of ISK, I'll definitely do both versions ;), but until then, just switch your settings!
    b) This problem causes many symptoms, misreporting of orders, things being off by factors of 10 and 100, outright program crashes and more, and it's very confounding to debug for everyone's machine.  When you see it, please consider looking into editing your EVE ini files and changing your operating system's number format to determine if that fixes the problem!

3) If the program crashes, there's a chance that something unusual has been deposited into your "marketlogs" folder.  Go into your "My Documents\EVE\logs\marketlogs" folder and clear out EVERYTHING, and then try again.
4) Market Master suddenly fails you after a patch?  Contact me at jkjudgex@gmail.com to make sure you have the newest version.
